WEDNESDAY EXCHANGE
11-30-11 Thanks to the money we raised on casual days in November and to everyone who brought canned good and items for the Thanksgiving baskets, we were able to give away 12 baskets for the Thanksgiving holiday. In particular, three boxes went to some kindergarten children in a public school class taught by one of our former teachers. She was so excited to be able to help out by giving away these baskets. Thank you for your generosity! Looking ahead:
11-22-11 HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! We hope everyone will enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving break with family and friends. (School is closed tomorrow--Wednesday, the 23rd, until Friday, the 25th.) See you all Monday, Nov. 28th. Spelling Bee - Congratulations to Elanis Kelley for winning our school spelling bee. She will get to compete at the Memphis-Shelby Co. Spelling Bee on February 4, 2012. Way to go, Elanis! Fall Fundraiser - Excellent job, students and parents, on a successful fundraiser. We sold over 1,000 dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts! You will get your certificates in the next few weeks. We greatly appreciate your support and participation. A special shout out and thank you to Mrs. Powell for helping to organize our fundraiser.
11-16-11 Parents...don't forget that this Friday, the 18th, at 1:30 p.m., we will hold our annual spelling bee. You are invited to come and cheer on the students. The winner will compete with other private, public, and home school students in the Shelby Co. spelling bee in February 2012. Many thanks to those of you who are participating in our Krispy Kreme fundraiser. The final date for selling is Monday, the 21st.
11-9-11 We are getting ready for our Christmas program...yes, already looking forward to a great, fun program! We hope you will invite your family members and friends to come and watch "The Light Before Christmas"...Thursday, December 15, at 7:00 p.m. Check the attachment article below (November 2011) for more updates on what's happening at CTRCA...
11-2-11 We had a great day last Friday for Fall Fun Fest! A big thank you to "Mr. Tony" Stanford for providing hay rides and to Mrs. Ross and Mrs. Jellow for their help with the Swap 'Til You Drop...and thank you to all the parents who helped by donating candy for our kiddos! You should have received information about our fall fundraiser. We are selling Krispy Kreme doughnut certificates and will keep 50% of what we sell. We hope everyone will help us out and SELL, SELL, SELL! $1.00 Casual Days on the following Fridays: Nov. 4, Nov. 11, and Nov. 18. Money raised will go towards Thanksgiving baskets for families in need. Pay your child's teacher. If your child does not want to participate, regular school uniform must be worn.
10-26-11 FALL FUN FEST - One of our biggest and most fun events is coming up this Friday. Thank you to those who have helped by donating candy and to those who will be coming to participate with your child. Hours will be from 9:00-11:00 for 3rd grade and younger; 9:30-11:30 for 4th grade and older. Swap til you Drop - Also on this Friday, we are having a uniform swap event. Come by room 115...you can drop off your child's outgrown and unused uniforms and look for "new" uniforms for your child. This is a great opportunity to save some money! Fall fundraiser - Beginning November 1st and continuing to November 21st, we are asking everyone to get involved in selling Krispy Kreme doughnut certificates. Each certificate costs $7.00 (for a dozen doughnuts) and CTRCA gets to keep 50% of what we sell. Information will be sent home this week.
10-19-11 In one week from this Friday (on 10/28) we will celebrate autumn with our annual Fall Fun Fest. We'll have lots of games, a hay ride, and, of course, CANDY!! But, parents, we need your help...and you can help by donating bags of individually-wrapped candy. There is a candy bin in front of the academy office. We appreciate your donations! Thank you to those to joined us in our Phonics Class yesterday. We hope you learned a lot about how we teach reading and how you can help at home. Basketball - Sign ups will begin soon. This year we will have a boys' team for 4th and 5th graders, as well as a girls' team for 4th-6th grade. Pizza Hut Day - This Friday, Oct. 21. Sign up for Parent-Teacher Conferences - Next Tuesday, Oct. 25.
10-12-11 We hope everyone enjoyed their fall break! We are back to school and busier than ever. This Friday, Oct. 14, you will receive your child's first quarter report card. After you review and sign, please return it back to your child's teacher no later than Monday, Oct. 17. Make sure you sign up for a parent-teacher conference. Conferences are on Tuesday, Oct. 25. Sign-up sheets are on the classroom doors. Looking ahead:
10-5-11 We are looking forward to our fall break...remember, no school on October 7, 10, and 11. Our teachers will be using part of this time for teacher training. Some will be going to a conference on Saturday, and others will go to a seminar from Sunday - Tuesday. Please keep us in your prayers. When we come back, the 3rd-7th graders have a field trip...Thursday, October 13. Also, first quarter report cards will be sent home on Friday, October 14. Please review, sign, and return by Monday, October 17. Have a wonderful fall break!
9-28-11 Chapel was exciting today! Mrs. Liggins and her second grade class shared the memory verses they have learned this year while Jade Reed participated by sharing an interpretive dance. "Soul-ed Out" was the topic Mrs. Liggins chose to remind the students that they are to belong completely to Jesus...body, spirit, and 'soul' (mind, will, emotions). She gave away music CDs to a few winners whose tickets were drawn at the end of chapel. Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Mac, and their Alphabet Kids acted out and told the story of David and Goliath! There's nothing like seeing 3-year-olds learn Bible truths and share it with their friends!! Keep in mind---Just a few more weeks until Fall Break (Oct. 7, 10, and 11)...then it will be report card time.
9-21-11 Circus Day - If you are a parent of a student in K3, K4, or K5, you are invited to our annual Circus Day being held this Friday, September 23, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. in the gym. You are in for a 'roaring' good time as you see our students perform in our three-ring circus and dress up like circus characters and animals. Medicine Policy - Please do not send medicine to school in your child's backpack. It must be kept in the school office, and you must fill out a permission form for giving medicine. Thank you for your cooperation.
9-7-11 Looking ahead:
8-31-11 Our Back-to-School Blast last Friday was so much fun! Early in the morning we had our Accelerated Reader (AR) kickoff. We encouraged the students to start reading and taking the quizzes to earn AR points. Our school goal for this school year is 3,500 points. Last year our goal was 2,500 and we exceeded that. After the kickoff assembly, our kiddos got to play on the water slides and I know they had 'blast'!! Thank you to the parents who came to help. Last night was our PTF (Parent-Teacher Fellowship) meeting. Mrs. Powell and Mrs. Bond are our co-leaders this year. Parents, if you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns, they will be glad to talk with you. We need as many parents as possible to be involved with PTF. We'll need your help with our fundraisers, honor roll parties, field trips, and numerous other events. Reminder - We are a uniform school. Your children should be wearing their uniforms every day--except on scheduled casual days which we will keep you informed about. If your child is not in uniform, you will receive a reminder note and be called to bring a uniform. This coming Monday, September 5, is Labor Day. We will be closed for the holiday.
8-24-11 Be sure to read our Back-to-School newsletter (attachment on this page), and check back every Wednesday for updates. |
